Cuchulain and the Morrigan Emily Carding is an artist with a unique style. Her inspiration is the realm of the fey, magic, gods, the sidhe and her work carries a rare vibrancy and power. You can see here work at her website, the Child of Avalon. Check out the Tarot decks she has created as well as her art in the Galleries. The Tarot of the Sidhe can be purchased here. The powerful image to the left used to show you her style represents the meeting between CuChulainn and the Morrigan, which is spot on really as our Episode 004, The Coming of Lugh, has a similar meeting between Lugh and the Morrigan.

As it is often claimed that CuChulainn is the child of Lugh, there is a strong parallel between these two meetings.

About herself, she says:

Emily Carding is a priestess, an artist, a student of shamanism, a singer, a lyricist and a full time mummy to a beautiful faery child.

Her muse is the full moon, the wonders and myths of this world and the other worlds, and the divinity within us all. Quite often images arrive fully formed and uninvited into her head and don’t give up until they’re committed to canvas! She has an expressive style, and enjoys using acrylics, ink and watercolour, and anything else she can get her hands on. Her work can be seen at events across the country in the form of prints and greetings cards.

This prolific lady has also written the lyrics for a Rock Opera, The Enchanted which is firmly based in Arthurian myth.

The story centred on the love triangle created by Guinevere’s love for Lancelot, which grows despite her arranged marriage to King Arthur. Meanwhile the sorceress Morgana, eaten up with rage at Arthur for ignoring her son (and his), Mordred, plans revenge by moving Mordred to his rightful place as King, using the mad Elaine, whom she has held in a tower throughout her life, to get to Lancelot and fulfil her plans. Her plans work but to tragic effect as Lancelot dies in the arms of Guinevere; Mordred dies trying to gain his father’s love; and Arthur surveys his kingdom having lost all he ever wanted.
