Contribution to the Show

Saor Patrol have graciously contributed their track Aftermath, which was played on episode SP05a, the Samhain Holiday Special Part 1. This highly emotive track remembers the Battle of the Shirts and is quite calm and composed, compared to their other pounding music. We are also proud to bring you their thumping tribal beat in what is fast becoming a signature tune - Up Ye Rock Ye - in our Yule 2008 Holiday Special, SP06.

Biography

'Saor' from the Gaelic word ‘Saorsa’, meaning freedom / liberty) From Central Scotland and Fife, the ancient Celtic Kingdom of Scotland, Saor Patrol and their unique sound of Scotland in the 21st century, brings together the sounds of the past into the present and launches the listener into an 'Exciting Tribal Experience'.

Those that have heard and experienced SAOR PATROL live never forget the visual image. The vibrant energy they share with their audience during a performance, with their vibrant pipe tunes and drum rhythms please and excite many a crowd from all walks of life. The sound they have evolved, produced and developed has been referred to as "Celtabilly". Bluegrass, Rockabilly, and as many other sounds have evolved from traditional Scottish and Irish music over the centuries, this is their contribution!!

Still holding onto their unique sound and style they continue to combine old musical Celtic roots with the new. Saor Patrol can now also offer an alternative, more ‘Rock’ orientated set, for their audiences. After a year of sampling and try outs with guitarist we now have the man for the job. He was always there and it was just a matter of timing. So you choose, TRIBAL Celtabilly or TRIBAL Celtic Rock. [source]

Clanranald Trust

The Clanranald Trust, established in 1995 as an educational organisation, is a recognised charity based in Kincardine, Scotland. It is has 2 staff members and a large contingent of volunteers who service the objectives of the Clan. Members of the trust are dedicated to promoting increased awareness of Scottish Culture and Heritage through interactive education. Goodwill and the enthusiasm of volunteers, who donate their time towards raising the necessary funds, allow the Trust to continue realising its educational ambitions.

Some of the fundraising activities include period re-enactment battle displays, corporate themed entertainment, major film-work, and public donations. Our aim is to present a true recreation of our nations past, striving to provide a fitting testimony to our ancestors.

A crucial part of the Trust is the education department, which for the past five years has been expanding. The many educational activities undertaken include interactive school and youth group visits. These usually involve visual displays and discussions about historical Scottish life, and allow children to take a closer look at some of the weapons and costumes of the time.

Their ultimate aim is to replicate a medieval Motte and Bailey Fort as an interactive educational visitor attraction (See more at DunCarron). The idea behind the project is to provide an arena in which groups, individuals and school parties can experience the atmosphere of an authentic medieval working community.

Once completed the Trust intend to use this development as a centre from which to base their work with the local community and educational institutions, whilst also offering a great forum for companies to entertain clients and employees alike. The Film and TV industries will also find the project useful as a “set”.
