Contribution to the Show

We're privileged to bring you this powerful line-up with their tale of loss and longing, Celtic Farewell from their first album Night of the Vampires in our 2013 Faerie Festival Special, SP37.

Biography

Roxircle is an alternative folk-rock band based in Totnes, Devon; formed in 2006 by vocalist Deanna Royle and guitarist Dave Morris. Inspired by their shared interest in British folklore and a fascination with the supernatural; they began writing and recording songs in their own home studio.

In 2009, they released their debut album, "Night Of The Vampire", on Strawman Records. Their sound is a blend of Dave`s melodic acoustic guitar, rock-orientated riffs and blues-based solo`s; and Deanna`s quirky yet powerful vocals – best described as Led Zeppelin meets Kate Bush! The album featured the Vampire trilogy of "Edge of the Night", "Follow My Leader" and "Dead Love"; and also the anthem-like "Celtic Farewell", a timeless tale of loss and longing.

They played their first live show in 2010, at the historic site of Torre Abbey, in Torquay; as a four-piece band which included Jimmy Morris on drums and Ruby Morris on bass.

Since then, they've played gigs all over the South-West, and performed at the "Pagan Future Festivals" in London and the "Faery Festival" in Findon, West Sussex.

They released their second album, "Obsession", in January 2013. This included brand-new tracks "The Garden" and "Through the Looking Glass"; along with some of their earliest recordings, such as the old Cheshire legend of "The Nail" and the disturbing "Wicker Man". Roxircle have now been joined Dave Waters on 5-string bass; with Ruby switching to rhthym guitar. Gigs still to play in 2013 include: "The Volunteer", Honiton: Saturday, October 5th/ "Pagan Futures" Samhain Festival, Balham: Sunday, October 20th/ "The Walkhampton Inn", Yealverton: Friday, November 1st/ "The Vintage", Wellington: Saturday, November 2nd/"The Red Lion", Newquay: Friday, November 8th. Download "Night of The Vampire" from itunes, Amazon and CD Baby.
