John has given us permission to bring you his superb piece about the Cloak of Brighid telling us all the traiditons and lore associated with Brigid's Cloak or Mantle in our 2013 Imbolc Holiday Special for Brighid, SP34.
John Willmott, well known as the organiser behind Celtic Ways, the guided mythological tours in Ireland has been recently running the Bards in the Woods project and along with his amazing harpist partner, Claire Roche, is creating the bardic CD Ogma's Tale of the Trees.
"Hello, I'm John, labyrinth keeper and guide here at Carrowcrory Cottage, Co. Sligo, Ireland surrounded by 100s of peaceful ancient sacred sites, places of timeless mythology, fables, and tradition where some say Morrigu wailed and Brighid was born."
"A lot changed for me in May 2010 when I had a stroke for reasons still largely unknown as my heart is in very good shape though I admit my weight needs a bit of sorting out.
"This did force me to discontinue my Celtic Ways business as it was then, taking groups on week or two tours and hikes exploring ancient sites, mythology and tell ancient stories all over Ireland, and sometimes into Eara Ghael, Scotland.
"Today, with help, I still tend to my Garden Of Labyrinths and share labyrinth walks, stories, harps, bards and home baking for those who visit here, especially as part of their vacations. On rainy days I am writing about my adventures and training through the past 55 years, that I also share with visitors here today."
