The immensely talented Flutatious can be heard in our 2013 Faerie Festival Special, SP37 with their track Drunken Drummer from their second album, Flutatious 2.
FLUTATIOUS came together after an inspiring trip to the Isle of Skye. The scenery and relaxed vibe inspired Michelle, Bill, Andy and Stella to put a new band together.
Malcolm came in on drums and then the band met the talented Mr Williams and were immediately knocked out with his jazzy vibes. 2008 saw the band finish their self-produced first album which sold out at every gig and was named as ‘demo of the week’ on Celtic Music Radio as well as receiving countless plays here and abroad on internet stations.
The band also had the pleasure of playing Small World, Eden, Cornbury, Hawkfest, Solfest and Weyfest and playing to ever increasing audiences in their native northwest London. The band members are:
MICHELLE DEVONSHIRE…classically trained flautist.
BILL FORWELL…untrained upside down bass guitarist.
STELLA FERGUSON…violin player extraordinaire.
ANDY FAULKNER…Mr. subtle guitar.
MALCOLM BAILEY…bangs pots and pans and skins and things.
GERALD WILLIAMS…Mr. jazz piano, a strange combination.
This causes for many a discussion on the refinements of music. Is there a right way to play or a wrong way to play? FLUTATIOUS do both at the same time. Soaring melodic flute accompanied by flying fiddle, atmospheric guitars, jazzy vibes and groovy beats.
With their unique sound Flutatious have been gaining interest from various parts of the ‘industry’ but still enjoy the freedom of being truly independent. Self produced, managed and promoted. Flutatious finished writing and recording new material for their second album which was released on March 20th 2010 and enjoyed a busy year with headline slots at Hawkfest, Ecofest, Knockengorroch, Alchemy and Waveform festivals and support slots with Dreadzone, Hawklords and The Dolmen to name but a few. 2012 has proved to be the busiest year yet. Playing festivals and clubs between the Big Tent in Falkirk to the Small World in Kent and many places inbetween, as well as writing and recording our 3rd album which was released at our Glastonbury gig on the 17th November. Once again, 2013 sees the band playing all over the country as well as releasing a four track ep in collaboration with Magick Eye Records featuring some of our tracks remixed by John Mitchell (It Bites), Spacehopper and Astralasia. Keep an eye on the gig page, as we are sure to be near you soon. The band would like to thank everyone who has danced and contributed to such an amazing five years. It has been said that ‘Flutatious will have you dancing like a paper bag in a wind tunnel…’
We hope you enjoy the sound.
Flutatious have 3 albums and 1 EP available.
