Ellen Evert Hopman has graciously allowed us to read a section of her marvellous book, A Druids Herbal of Sacred Tree Medicine which appears on the second half of our Samhain 2008 Holiday Special, SP05b. She has also allowed us to read an excerpt from the amazing book, Priestess of the Forest, which is a tale of 3rd Century Ireland which appears in our Yule 2008 Holiday Special, SP06.

Biography

Ellen is a Master Herbalist and lay Homeopath who holds an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling. She is a founding member and a current Co-Chief of The Order of the WhiteOak. She was Vice President of The Henge Of Keltria, an international Druid Fellowship, for nine years. She is a Bard of the Gorsedd of Caer Abiri, a Druidess of the Druid Clan of Dana and has been a member of The Order Of Bards Ovates and Druids and of ADF. She is a member of the Grey Council of Mages and Sages and teaches at the Grey School of Wizardry.

The Order of the White Oak

The Order of Whiteoak is the on-line home of the Reconstructionist Druid organization, Ord na Darach Gile and our friends.

Our tripartite mission is:

• To discuss with our peers the lessons of ancient and recent history
• To study the Brehon Laws of Ireland, the Celtic Mythological Cycles, the Wisdom Texts and other ancient sources
• To seek ways to apply this information to contemporary Druidic practice

In particular, we wish to apply the ethical insights we derive from the ancient Celtic past to contemporary concerns; environmental and ecological issues, human rights and social issues, and many other national and international peace and social justice issues that are of rapidly increasing importance.

Our understanding of the roles of the ancient Druid prompts us to follow them in an involvement in the academic, artistic and social justice arenas, as well as in purely spiritual and religious matters.
